Wanaka-based law firm Aspiring Law has extended an open invitation to anyone involved in business throughout the Upper Clutha and Central Otago to the launch of its novel community-based initiative, BizClub.

Aspiring Law director Janice Hughes says everyone with an interest in business is welcome to book a place at the launch, which will be held next Thursday (October 29) at the firm’s offices at 62 Ardmore Street, Wanaka.

All Aspiring Law’s business clients will be signed up for a free membership to BizClub, but Janice says anyone can join, whether or not they’re a client of the firm.

“The BizClub ethos is based on collaboration, knowledge sharing and support, so we want it to be really inclusive,” Janice says.

“We know success doesn’t happen in a bubble. Our theory is: if we can help and encourage businesses, and give them tools, contacts and support they might not otherwise have, each individual victory that results snowballs and makes for a stronger, more vibrant business community.”

BizClub members will receive a range of benefits, including free legal advice, access to tailored seminars and workshops with industry experts at no cost and regular networking events. There will also be opportunities for business people to showcase their own products and services, as well as brainstorm ideas.

Members would be given a free trial, and there were two paid packages with a small administration fee, but Aspiring Law would cover all other costs to ensure BizClub’s benefits were accessible to everyone.

“We’re already working on next year’s schedule of events, and one of our first projects when BizClub goes live is seeking input from members about what their needs and priorities are in terms of upskilling and connecting with other businesses and experts,” she says.

“We’ve been careful to design BizClub to be a nimble and fluid platform, so nothing’s too fixed and it’ll grow along with our membership’s needs and the business environment.”

A BizClub members’ section of Aspiring Law’s website will go live on launch day, and anyone wanting to register for October 29’s launch can email bizclub@aspiringlaw.co.nz or phone 03 443 0900.
